I didn’t know the guy, but based on the Wisconsin Parks stickers, the lack of miles on the car, and now this stuff I found under the jack, I am certain.

Kinja'd!!!

Tonight I’m going to put in the gloves, use the mouth breather as a kazoo, and light the flare using the bandages in the plastic case as kindling.

Or possibly an EMT or other emergency personnel. I have the same stuff in my daily driver for CPR.

Can confirm. The car from my grandpa had waterproof matches, candles, gloves, gauze, tightly wound jumper cables, and an electric tire pump in the spare tire well

Hey man, the Bundy Bandits like to hang out at parks for months at a time, and they aren’t all old men.

it’s a mazda, you don’t have to mention Rust. they come pre-rusted from Japan like that.

Well my 2003 protege5 did. Mine had rust under the dealer rustproofing that i got done when i bought it new. Got mazda to repaint mine 3 times before the warranty expired.

My LS has a set of jumper cables and some assorted oddities in the spare tire well that came with the car, but it was owned by an old man.

Then again, every car I’ve owned had a set of jumper cables. Most have had a tow strap in there as well. My first car not only had cables and a strap, but also a custom storage unit my grandfather and I built to put car-related things in, including a flashlight, paper towels, gloves, the manual, tools, and some other odds-and-ends.

My FoST has an LED flashlight in the center console, another in one of the cubbies in the back, a set of jumper cables in the spare tire, a tow strap, a tire pressure gauge, etc.

I’m an old man and I always have been, apparently.

I always carry cables with me (used them more to help others than myself) because I got stranded by a dead battery ONCE, and got them as a gag gift.

I was given a fire extinguisher as a gag gift when I had my hodge podge swapped Subaru, and that I finally installed in my 3. Hence why I found the old man goodies.

I guess that makes them NON-gag gifts?

Yeah, I have very rarely use my cables to jump my own car. Over 95% of the time, I’m using them to jump someone else’s car.

Definitely not gags; you never know when you’ll need them. A fire extinguisher is really useful when you need it.

I have towed quite a few cars with my tow strap, but I’ve only been towed with it once (in my first car, when I lost my fuel pump). I usually just call AAA these days if it’s more than a short pull on small surface streets. It’s just too dangerous to do otherwise (and cars that need towing usually don’t have working power brakes, so there’s a risk of getting rear ended by the towed car).
